Alvin Jackson Tallent, age 89 of Decatur, went Home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 16, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family. Mr. Tallent was a veteran of the United States Navy serving in the Korean War. He was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church in Athens, Tennessee and retired as a security officer at Tennessee Wesleyan College.
He is preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Ellen Ferrie; parents, Andrew and Martha Tallent; siblings, Bob Tallent, Ralph Tallent, Ray Helton and husband Charles, Alma Graves, Oscar Tallent, Ralph “Whitey” Tallent, Girdie Tallent, Beecher Tallent; cousin, Jimmy Ray Williams,
He is survived by his wife, Donna Lou Tallent; children, B.J. Tallent and wife Shell, Andy Tallent, Julie Tallent, Debbie Garner and husband Ronnie, Jackie Lynn Wicker and husband Phil, and Martha Atkins; grandchildren, Holly Farck, Alexis Nicole Tallent, Kaitlyn Renee Capooth, Madison Paige Synoground, Kelcey Taylor Synoground, Timothy Austin McCarty, Savannah Tatum Keene, Ashlyn Rayne Tallent, and Josh Floyd; great-grandchildren, Silas, Cade, Martin, Tyler, Timmy, Tanner, Brody, Brantley, Henry and Stella.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 19, 2023 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Loudon Funeral Home with funeral service to follow at 7:00 pm. Pastor Curtis Walden will be officiating. Graveside service will be at 11:00 am Thursday, April 20, 2023 at Loudon County Memorial Gardens.
