Anita Shubert McNew passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 – perhaps the first peaceful thing she ever did. Anita was always full of life: energetic, loving, and a Jedi Master of the Dad Joke. When she loved someone or something, she did it with all her heart, whether it was the band KISS, her pet rock, or Ritz parmesan crackers. Most of all, she loved her family. Many of her friends have described Anita as “crazy and fun,” but she was just plain crazy about Oscar, her husband of 47 years. Their love and devotion to each other helped them survive the loss of their son Vaughn when he was only 21. Anita and Oscar helped raise their grandson Chris, who Anita adored and, according to Oscar, spoiled rotten. From an early age, Anita’s big heart always had room for animals, and she was a doting doggy and cat mom. Her family is comforted knowing Anita is now with her beloved son Vaughn, as well as her parents, Dorothy and Vaughn Shubert, her sister Sharon Shubert Hart and brother Dale Shubert. She is survived by her husband Oscar, her grandson Chris, many nieces and nephews, brothers- and sisters-in-law, friends, and her precious fur babies PooDoo, Dora and His Majesty, Tom the cat. A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, July 31 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Loudon Funeral Home in Loudon, Tennessee. In lieu of flowers, please honor Anita by making a donation to the Loudon County Animal Shelter - 250 Jamie Drive - Loudon, TN 37774.
