Barbara Ann Sharp

Barbara Ann Sharp, age 82, passed away on Monday, October 14, 2024 in her home surrounded by close family. It is with great sadness we convey her departure from this earth to forever be with our Lord and Savior and Barbara's infectious faith serves as a daily reminder of the promise of eternity with Jesus. Barbara was born on June 2, 1942, to her parents, Joe and Helen Johnson in Knoxville, TN. At an early age, Barbara professed her belief in Jesus and was a member of Grove Hill Baptist Church. She graduated from Karns High School in 1960 and from Joseph School of Beauty in 1964.

Barbara was a devoted wife and mother that never met a stranger. Barbara married her childhood sweetheart James F. Sharp Sr. in 1960 and started their beautiful family. After successfully completing beauty school in 1964, Barbara and her husband Jim started a hair care business in the back of their home and built their business with their own hands from the ground up. Barbara's passion for people and hair care rapidly grew into what became known as BJ and Friends Hair Care Center in West Knoxville. Together, Barbara and Jim ran an incredibly successful business for fifty-one fabulous years that was a daily testimony of her positive influence on everyone she personally and professionally encountered. Barbara's infectious enthusiasm every day of her life left an unforgettable impact and blessing on her family, friends and everyone that came through the doors of BJ and Friends. Barbara's beautiful life will forever be cherished and remembered. 

Barbara is survived by her husband of 64 years, Jim Sharp Sr.; her daughter, Cindy Ingram (Brad) of Jacksonville, FL; her son, Jim Sharp Jr. (Beverly) of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, Matthew Jenkins, Cameron Jenkins, Jamie Sharp, and Jonah Sharp. She is also survived by one sibling, Sharron Gornto of Ormond Beach, FL.

A graveside service will be held at Edgewood Cemetery on October 17, 2024 at 11:00 a.m.
