Born on January 21, 1928, Darrel R. Gwinn, of Madisonville, walked through the gates of Heaven to be with his Lord and Savior, at the age of 87. He was a dedicated pastor for many years; a loving husband to his wife, Geraldine M. Gwinn for 66 years; a wonderful father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great-great grandfather; and a friend to all. His main goal in life was to help people find Jesus as their Savior. He enjoyed life and being one of God's children. He served his country in the Naval Branch of our military. Born in Barren Creek, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Joseph F. and Mary E. Gwinn, both of WV. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Paul and Clyde Gwinn; on sister, Ann Pope; one daughter, Rebekah Gwinn; and one son-in-law, Robert Stinson. Surviving him are his wife, Geraldine Gwinn; children, Deborah Gwinn-Stinson, Sandra Gwinn-Stewart, and Jeffrey Gwinn. He had twelve grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. He was a member of Valley View Free Will Baptist Church, in Loudon and a wonderful Christian man. He had so much love in his heart and was always smiling. He loved life. We will miss him more than we can say. Our hearts hurt for him, but we can have peace knowing that after a long illness, he's home at last; safe in the arms of God. Services will be Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at Loudon Funeral Home; receiving friends, 12 - 2:00 PM, with funeral at 2:00; interment service will follow at East Sweetwater Free Will Baptist Cemetery.
