Ella Jones was born on December 4, 1941 in Loudon TN.
God called her home on August 7, 2024 at the age of 82.
Ella’s faith in God was very strong. She loved the Lord. She joined Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church at a young age and stayed devoted throughout her life. She was president of the Missionary Club and the Loudon Community Club. She loved working with the youth and organized the Youth Explosion for her church as well as the program for The Last Seven Words Of Christ for many years. She loved talking to everyone she knew and even those that she didn’t about the goodness of God.
Ella was a beloved and devoted mother to her only child Rodney Jones, a kind and caring mother-in-law to his wife Angela McQueen-Jones and a very proud and loving grandmother to his children Danyelle Lechele Jones and Rodney Devon Jones.
Ella never met a stranger. She made friends with and had a kind word for literally everyone she met. She always had a smile on her face and a positive attitude. One of her favorite sayings was “every day is a good day no matter what!”
Ella graduated Valedictorian from JF Cook high school in 1960 after which she attended Knoxville College. After college, she left Loudon and moved to Springfield Massachusetts where she managed the Belmere Insurance Agency. After many years in Massachusetts, she relocated to Dayton Ohio where she and her husband Freddie Jones welcomed their son Rodney into the world. After their divorce, Ella moved back home to Loudon where she worked for Knoxville College in the financial aid department until she retired. After retiring, she volunteered at The Good Samaritan Center and at Iva’s Place, a shelter for battered women and their children. She also worked, after retirement, at The Yard Sale Heaven Shop with her good friends Brenda Collins and Linda Shaw of Loudon.
Ella was an avid sports fan. She was a frequent observer at all of the local games. She loved to watch her favorite college team, UT and when they lost she was the biggest complainer and when they won she was the biggest cheerleader.
Ella is proceeded in death by her parents Mary Lou and Dewey Blair, her brother Admiral Blair, her sisters Mary(Sweetie)Blair, Ann Webster, Sarah Blair and Theresa Blair and her niece Annette Webster.
Ella leaves to cherish her memory her son Rodney(Angela)Jones, grandchildren Danyelle and Rodney Jones, sister Cynthia(Earl)Ferguson, nephews Admiral Webster and Mark(Tracy)Blair and niece Ashley(Rachel)Ferguson.
