James "Gregg" Clinton, 66, of Sweetwater, TN, went to his Heavenly home Thursday, December 22, 2022, at Parkwest Medical Center, Knoxville, TN, surrounded by his loving family.
Gregg was born March 11, 1956, in Loudon, TN, the first born of James A. "John" and Helen Elizabeth (Jaynes) Clinton of Philadelphia, TN. Gregg graduated from Loudon High School in 1974 and East Tennessee State University in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. He was employed with Lucent Technologies as an engineer for 25 years.
Gregg loved bass fishing, old cars and trucks, antiquing or better yet junking (Mr. Haney) and spending time with his family and friends.
Gregg was of the Baptist faith and is preceded in death by his mother, Helen "Hanky" Clinton of Philadelphia, TN, father and mother-in-law, Robert "Louie" and Shirley Wimmer of Jolo, WV. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 35 years, Cheryl Carlene (Wimmer) Clinton, his son, Jonathan James Clinton, and his daughter, Hannah Elizabeth Clinton, all of the home; his father, John Clinton of Sweetwater, TN; brothers Tony (Jacki) Clinton of Anahuac, TX, Mark (Pam) Clinton of Athens, TN, and Angela Beth (Tommy "Corky") Jones of Sweetwater, TN; brother and sister-in-law, Bruce and Loretta Wimmer of Kernersville, NC; four nephews, Bret Wimmer, Christopher, Benjamin and Michael Jones, a niece, Kristin (Ernie) Hill, a great niece, Scarlett Kay Hill, as well as many dear friends.
Services honoring Gregg’s life will be held Thursday, December 29, 2022, at the Loudon Funeral Home Chapel in Loudon, TN, with Rev. Brian Courtney officiating. Family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1 p.m., the funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Graveside service will directly follow at Loudon County Memorial Gardens in Lenoir City, TN.
Pallbearers are Mark Clinton, Bruce Wimmer, Bobby Jones, Damian Crawford, Steve Knox, Mark Viar, Christopher and Michael Jones.
Honorary Pallbearers are David Carter, Benny Lundy and Tommy "Corky" Jones
