John H. “Steve” Stevens, age 77 of Loudon, took his final flight with Jesus on Sunday, December 11, 2022. John was a 50 year member of Local 102 Steamfitters and Pipefitters. He was a pilot in the 4/278th Armored Cavalry Regiment of the Tennessee Army National Guard. During his 37 plus years of service, CW4 Stevens commanded UH-60 and OH-58 helicopters. He especially loved flying with the men and women of Air Methods as an air ambulance pilot from 1998-2013. He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church. John loved to help people anyway he could.
Steve is preceded in death by a son, John Paul Stevens; parents, John W. and Lola Mae Stevens; brothers, Richard and Bobby Jo Stevens.
He is survived by his wife, Mary F. Grimes Stevens; daughter, Gina Kelly and husband Sean; sisters, Devonna Esslinger and DeAnna Kay; brother, Sam Stevens; aunts, uncles, several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to Bethany Baptist Church Building Fund.
The family will receive friends Thursday, December 15, 2022 from 4-7PM at Bethany Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 7PM with Rev. Gary Whitworth and Rev. Rick Harrell officiating. Graveside service will be held at 11AM Friday, December 16, 2022 at Loudon County Memorial Gardens.
