Mary Hood

Mary E. Hood (nee Jenkins); a loving mother–grandmother–great grandmother–sister– and dear friend to many, passed away on January 16, 2025 at 92 years of age. Throughout her life she was very independent, holding many titles, and working up until she was 84. Mary always made sure to tell her children that they were loved with her whole heart and soul, and she was so very proud of her 9 grandkids and 11 great grandkids.

In addition to her love of bowling, Mary loved her trips to the casino with her dear friend Shirley Rodgers and liked to think of herself as a competitive backgammon pro. Over the years she enjoyed numerous trips to her home state of Tennessee, as well as her many trips with her lifelong friends to Vegas or on a cruise. Mary also enjoyed spending time with some other big loves, which were her pets, especially her little kitties, Regis, Chase and Ace.

Mary leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Charles Steven (Trudy) Hood, the late Robert Michael (Toni) Hood, Randy Warren (Denise) Hood and Shelley Hood Taylor (Eric Hollaway), her grandkids, Carrie Ann (Mike) Seehoffer, Nicole Lynn (Ben) Higgins, Linsey (Jimmy) Pollard, Michael Bradley (Melissa) Hood, Jackie Hood, Brandon Hood, Fr. Matthew Hood, Travis (Kelly) Taylor, Hailey Taylor; and her great grandkids Mya, Charlotte, Lily, Ruby, Addison, Callie, Braden, Harper, Hudson, Reese and Tatum. 

Preceded in death by her parents, Robert T. Jenkins and Mattie L. Jenkins (Frank); her beloved siblings, Ruthie Mae Frank, Margaret Jane Cardin, Barbara Ann Laugherty and James Louis Jenkins; also preceded in death by her son, the late Robert Michael Hood, daughter-in-law, the late Carol Ann Hood and her former husband, Charles A. Hood.

The family will be receiving friends on Friday, January 24, 2025 at Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home, Lake Orion, from 4 to 7 pm with funeral services to begin at 6pm. Mary will be laid to rest on Monday, January 27, 2025 in Corinth Cemetery in Loudon, Tennessee.
