Nellie Louise Hardy Cleveland "lovingly known as Mamma Nell & Nanny, of Loudon, took off mortality and put on immorality on Wednesday morning February 27, 2013 at Signature Care & Rehabilitation Center Harriman following a lengthy illness. Nellie was one of twelve children born to the late Columbus and Elizabeth Deathridge Hardy. She was a graduate of Pearl High School, Nashville. She was a faithful and dedicated member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School Teacher; Program Chairperson and Kitchen Committee until her health began to fail. Nellie was active in the Missionary Society. She served many years as a board member of the Mid-East Action Community Agency. Nellie was very active with the Loudon District Association. In addition to her parents she was preceded by her husband, : Eli (Phil) Cleveland, : son, Paul Jerry Batey; Grandson, Patrick "Oz" Batey; Brothers. John, William, Jr. & Virgil Hardy, ; Sisters: Mary Kate Clark, Florence Moore, Bonnie Kline, Beatrice Vaughter and Rose Sadler. She leaves to cherish her loving memory, Devoted Daughter-in-law, Margie Moore, Harriman, Sons; Robert (Nida) Batey, Vacaville, California Donald (Mary) Cleveland , Chattanooga; eight Grandchildren , Yalonda & Shawn Batey, California, Tisa Batey Walker, Atlanta, Monique "Nikie" Batey , Fayettsville, Ga., Yalanda (Kerry) Collier, St. Louis, Mo, Veta Crosswhite, St. Louis, Mo., Dwight Crosswhite, Knoxville, Tn., Steven Crosswhite, Nashville.; 12 Great-Grandchildren; Sisters, Geneva (Charles) Rowland, Addie Houston, Dayton, Ohio; Beulah Black ,Alcoa Tn. Sisters-in-law, Margaret & Christine Cleveland, Philadelphia, Tn.; A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family will receive friends 12 noon--2p.m. Tuesday prior to funeral services at 2 p.m. Tuesday Loudon Funeral Home Chapel. Interment in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
