Pauline Rucker Shell, age 89, was called to heaven on January 10, 2021. She was born July 16, 1931 in Loyston, TN, moving to Philadelphia, TN shortly after. Pauline was a member of First Baptist Church of Philadelphia for most of her life. She married her grammar school sweetheart, Herbert, and raised their two beautiful children on the Shell family dairy farm. They were married for 45 years. Pauline spent her time as a Sunday school teacher, girl scouts leader, and Girls of America leader, serving her community. Pauline dedicated her life to helping others, working as a registered nurse at Sweetwater Hospital Home Health for 47 years, retiring at the age of 80. She enjoyed sewing, reading, and canning food from their garden. Pauline loved to joke around, always smiling with others. She is preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Shell; son, Gary Shell; mother and father, Martha and Isaac Rucker; and siblings, Edith, Roxie, Ann, Jack, and Sarah Mae.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Gwen Shipley and husband Ed, of Lenoir City; Granddaughter, Ciara Phillips, of Austin, TX; Granddaughter, Ariel Newton and husband Tyler, of Knoxville; Great grandchildren, Tobias Phillips and Meredith Newton; Siblings, Isaac Rucker, of New Jersey, Bettye Ratledge and husband Joe, of Loudon; Special friend, Donna McCarter and family; Pauline is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
Friends may visit from 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm Wednesday, January 13, at Loudon Funeral Home. The graveside service will be held Thursday, January 14, 2021 at 2:00 PM at West View Cemetery.
