Pearl McKee

April 16, 1942 — July 1, 2010

Pearlene "Pearl" Willis McKee, age 68, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, July 1, 2010 after a 25 year battle with cancer. She was born in Loudon, TN on April 16, 1942 to the late Ira "Doc" Willis and the late Anna Rose Kirkland Willis. She attended Loudon High School before marrying her husband of 51 years, Doug McKee on June 27, 1959. They first moved to High Point before settling in Asheboro in 1966. Mrs. McKee was a member of Forest Park Baptist Church. Pearl was a devoted wife, terrific mother and the best grandmother in the world because she believed she had the best grandchildren in the world. She enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren, cooking for her family and the friendship of her closest friends. She spent most of her working life in retail before retiring from J C Penney. Pearl's family is proud of the way she fought her disease, with courage, dignity and grace and for the strength she gave us to fight along beside of her. She was an inspiration to many. In addition to her parents, Mrs. McKee was preceded in death by her brothers, Goans Willis, Jr. Willis and James Willis. She is survived by her husband, Doug McKee of the home, son, Tony McKee and wife Anita of Asheboro; daughter: Tonya Needham and fiancé Scott Councilman of Asheboro, grandchildren, Derek McKee and wife Gina of Asheboro, Stephanie Needham of the home, Stephen Sweatt of Asheboro, Nicole McKee of Asheboro; great grandson, Colton McKee, sisters, Edna Smallen and husband Fred, Margaret Smallen, Sally Perkins all of Loudon, TN, Sara Ann Lennox and husband Hubert of Philadelphia, TN, Priscilla Bennett of Madisonville, TN; mother-in-law, Marie McKee of Loudon, TN; sister-in-law Pat Starritt and husband W. T. of Knoxville, TN. The family will receive friends Saturday, July 3, from 1-3:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro with a memorial service following at 3:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kermit Gray officiating. Interment will follow at Randolph Memorial Park.
