Buford Ray Yates, age 81, of Loudon, TN went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 9th at Parkwest Medical Center following an unexpected illness. Ray was born March 15, 1935. He retired from Loudon Utilities' Water Department in 1996. He was an active member of Tennessee Lodge 204 F&AM. Ray's hobbies included hunting, fishing, gardening, and spending time with those he loved. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Joetta Yates; his daughter, Debbie Starritt; his parents, W.R. Yates and Myrtle Rose Yates; his sisters, Rita Cooper, and Kathryn White; and his brothers, Gayther Yates and Jerry Yates. Ray is survived by his son Mike (Susie) Yates, of Nashville; his daughter, Judy (Tim) Dixon, of Loudon; and his son in law, Kenny Starritt, of Loudon; granddaughters, Jennifer (Tony) Costner, of Loudon and Cheryl Loyd, of Nashville; grandsons, Nick (Jamie) Dixon, of Loudon, and Brandon (Lacy) Dixon, of Lenoir City; as well as seven great grandchildren; sister, Cora (Roy) Huff, of Loudon; brothers, Robert (Teresa) Yates, of Cleveland, OH and Raymond (Dorothy) Yates, of Loudon; and many loving nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Loudon Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 from 5-7pm. The service will follow at 7pm, with Pastor Ronnie Cook and Pastor Danny Thornburg officiating. Masonic Services will be conducted by Tennessee Lodge 204 F&AM. Interment will be Thursday, 11:00 a.m., Loudon County Memorial Gardens, with Rev. Gary Cook officiating.
