Van Buren Gibby, age 84 of Sweetwater, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 12, 2022. He was a member of Reed Springs Baptist Church where he played bass guitar for the choir. He was an owner operator of a logging truck for 30 years, and retired as a truck driver from Overnite after 25 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Homer Gibby and Sarah Presswood Gibby; sisters, Lena Jones (John), and Wanda Gourley (Frank).

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Lydia Mason Gibby; son, Daniel Gibby, granddaughter; April Gibby all of Sweetwater; special nephews, Tyler Walters and wife Elizabeth; great-nephew, Colton Walters all of Madisonville, Mark Jones and wife Shawna of Wisconsin, Mike Jones and wife Sherry of Florida, several sister and brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The family will receive friends on Monday, February 14, 2022 from 1-3pm at Reed Springs Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 3pm with Rev. Dennis Ellis, and Rev. Steven McDonald officiating. Interment will follow in the Reed Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
