William Burl Anderson, Jr. (Bill), died at home on April 3, 2017, surrounded by family and friends, after a long illness. Bill was a 1956 graduate of Sweetwater High School and a member of Blairland Baptist Church. He spent the majority of his life working in law enforcement, for both the Loudon County Sheriff's Department and the City of Loudon Police Department, where he served as patrolman, investigator and eventually, Chief of Police. He was preceded in death by his parents, Burl and Mary Thomas Anderson; sister, Nancy Cribb; and son, Matt. He leaves behind, to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 55 years, Linda; son, Mitch (Katie) Anderson; daughters, Laura (Dale) Standridge, Leslie Brown and honorary daughter, Lisa Williams; five grandchildren, Teddy (Carly) Anderson, Evan (Kaci) Anderson, Aaron (Cecilia) Anderson, Samuel and Matthew Brown; great grandchildren, Abigail, Noah, Madison and Jack; sisters-in-law, Vicki Brock and Charlotte (Sony) Lawson; lifetime friends, of over 50 years, Gerald Lane, Brent and Gayle Davis, James "Bear" Webb and all the members of the Loudon Police Department; who he always referred to as "his kids". The family would like to send a special thank you to Dr. Rahman, who has been invaluable in his care and advice over the years, as well as a good friend; Amedysis Hospice for their care, and all friends and family who have brought food and provided comfort for them through this difficult time. The family will receive friends Thursday evening, 4:00 - 7:00 pm, at Blairland Baptist Church Ministry Activity Center. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm, with Pastor Jon Henson officiating.
