Wilma Jean Edgemon, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2024 in Philadelphia, TN.
Wilma was a woman of many talents and interests. She found joy in crocheting, cross-stitching, reading, and working puzzles. Her creative spirit was reflected in the beautiful crafts she created and the stories she immersed herself in.
Guided by her unwavering faith, Wilma was a devoted member of New Hope Methodist Church in Philadelphia. She played an active role in leading worship and found comfort in the spiritual community she was a part of.
Above all else, Wilma treasured her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Hubert and Elja Poe; son, Mike Edgemon; grandddaughter, Julie Henry; brothers, Harold, Jim, Leonard and Gary Poe and sister, Earlene Whorley.
With 58 years of marriage, Wilma shared a deep and loving bond with her husband, R.W. Edgemon. Together, they built a life filled with love and cherished memories. She leaves behind a legacy of love, as a devoted mother to her son, Eugene Edgemon and her daughters, Carolyn (Billy) Henry and Kim (John) Simmons. She delighted in the presence of her grandchildren, Jessica Knox, Catie (Ronnie) Branam, Hayley Edgemon, James (Courtney) Henry, Nathan Edgemon, Ashlee (David) Berry, Andrew Edgemon, Austin Edgemon, Noah Simmons, Liz Simmons and Randy Arp. Her great-grandchildren, Colton, Logan, Mason, Evelyn, Thomas, Lilly, Leajane, Roland and Avery brought her immeasurable joy. She is also survived by her sister, Reva Whorley.
Wilma Jean Edgemon will be remembered for her kind heart, gentle spirit and commitment to her loved ones. Her legacy of love and creativity will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to be a part of her life.
She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
The family will greet friends on Saturday, June 1, 2024 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Loudon Funeral Home. Graveside service will follow at New Hope Methodist Church Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. Rev. Riley Huffstetler and Rev. Richard Tallent will be officiating.
